Is your past holding you from your future?

Post is thanks to a friend.  We were having a conversation on this subject and came up that I should blog about it.

How often do we hold onto things from our past – bad choices, past experiences, etc?   IS this preventing you from being open and receiving in your current situation and future possibilities?

Consult not your fears, but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you have tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do. – Pope John XXIII

Are you holding on to fears instead of looking at your hopes and dreams?  What about your potential and opportunity to become all you can be? Is your past failures keeping you from making the most of your situation and growing?

Just remember every action, choice, good and bad, right and wrong, have led you to this point in your life.   Don’t hold on to what has already happened but use it to look forward and grow and become a better version of yourself.   What if you were able to let go and open yourself up to your current life – what doors would open? What happiness and joy would you begin to see and feel?

In Ephesians we read “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you…”

How are you treating those around you? Are you reacting to your situation because of your past experiences?   Are you living in fear because of what has happened before?  What if you let go of those fears and had faith that you are where you are  because you are supposed to be.  Can you let go and open yourself to receive happiness, joy, love, success that is before you?

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. – Buddha

Don’t hold on to these things. Let go and enjoy your current moment.  See what is right in front of you and you’ll find joy and love.
